This morning I attempted to start my car as usual, but instead of the smooth engine purr I've come to expect, it coughed briefly, the power windows started rolling down, the radio died, and the car alarm went off. Hmmmm, must be a dead battery. I attempt to call my wife who left for work only scant minutes ago. Hmmm, someone didn't turn on their cell phone. Hmmm, no visible neighbor in the burb. There's a Kragen only a mile away so I decided to walk and buy a new battery there.
It was a nice day for a walk and I enjoyed getting to the store. Using a reference manual, I found the battery I needed, purchased it, and headed out the door. I quickly realized one small issue; the battery weighed about sixty pounds. Keeping it hoisted on alternating shoulders via a system of contortions and military presses, I received only a small amount of burning battery acid on hands as I traveled home. Luckily, the installation was easy and I was able to go to work...
Except my cheap factory radio has a security code that has to be re-entered after it loses power. This feature is only useful in annoying the rightful owner as no one is going to steal such a lousy radio. The owner's manual awaits me.
